Lifting the Dark Cloud of Depression

"Big Banks: Too  Big for Congress to Handle?"

Daily, we are bombarded with sobering messages about the state of the economy.  Everywhere you look, people seem to be struggling financially. Foreclosure, bankruptcy, unemployment, and discouragement are rampant, and no longer newsworthy.  People turn in vain to the government for reform and relief.  The headlines listed above are from today, but could just as easily be from the 1930's.  It seems as if not much has changed since the days of the Great Depression.

As George Santayana (1863-1952) said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." In an effort to understand our current economic situation, I  turned to the past. As a country, we have been here before, and will likely be here again, if we don't individually, and collectively, figure this out.

Last week I read the Great Crash of 1929 by John Kenneth Galbraith.  Originally this book was published in the 1950's and was updated in the 80's with some insights regarding the economic recession of that decade.  I will admit, that I had a hard time getting excited about this book. Frankly, the details of the events leading up to the stock market crash in 1929 were tedious and boring.  The inner workings of the stock market and the associated foreign language were uncharted territory for me.  I am sure that I am not alone in my attitudes and general lack of knowledge on this subject.  Unfortunately, ignorance offers no protection, under the law, or in financial matters.

The 1920's were an era of great speculation.  People were excited about the future and the prospect of getting rich.  The real estate speculation boom in Florida was in full swing.  Individuals were purchasing the option to purchase swamp land sight unseen.  Investment trusts were a recent invention, and everyone was jumping on the band wagon.  If some is good then more is better, right?   Discontent and ingratitude can turn a healthy desire for the good life to self-destructive greed.  Everyday citizens were investing their savings in ventures they knew little about, on the lofty promises of getting rich quick. The caustic combination of ignorance and greed lead to the great crash in October of 1929.

How many of us have a solid understanding of personal finance?  Do you know what tax bracket you are in?  Do you know what interest rates you are paying versus being paid?  Do you know the tax implications of home ownership versus renting?  Most people want MORE money and the things money can buy, but do we really understand how money works?  I know that I don't.  It is a subject that I have ignored and felt best left to the experts.  That was the attitude of the general population of the 1920's.  They trusted their bankers, investment advisers, Wall Street executives, and their government. Then, one by one these guardians began to crumble.

Once the crash hit, the tides turned quickly.  Those that were revered were now hated.  Institutions of trust were now feared.  The rich became instantly poor and the poor became destitute.  Fortunes were made and lost on what today we would call "vapor-ware".  In many cases the assets traded at high rates of return had no actual tangible value.  The prevailing attitude of the nation was fear laced with a heavy serving of doubt.  Distrust of Wall Street, banks, industry leaders, and government officials was pervasive.

Once down, the economy of the country did not recover for a long time.  During this time the distrust, fear and doubt only increased.  These attitudes prevented individuals from starting businesses, making investments, purchasing property & goods, or taking any kind of risk that would ultimately lead to financial gain.  With no financial activity there can be no financial growth.  The extensive lack of faith, kept this country depressed for a decade.

The combination of ignorance and greed  produces an individual easily exploited.  Individuals  armed with financial knowledge make better investment decisions and  raise the stability of our economy as a whole.  It starts with the individual, with you and with me.

Realizing that my attitudes about my personal finances are tied to the generations before me has been a huge eye opener.  Having never lived through serious deprivation, I often wondered why I had a strong aversion to eat or use the last of anything.  It didn't make sense that I would fear homelessness and starvation when I had never experienced these for myself. They are deeply ingrained behavior patterns that are both intentionally taught and energetically passed down to us in our DNA.  To dispel  the lingering dark cloud each of us must gain more factual financial  knowledge, and determine to consciously let go of the negative emotions  that tie us to our collective, tragic past. As Knowledge and gratitude replace ignorance and greed, fear and doubt will give way to faith and hope.

The Nature of Energy

The universe is a rich energetic atmosphere.  Energy surrounds us at all times.  Every living and nonliving thing on the earth is constructed of energy.  As we think, speak and act we transform the energy around us and raise or lower it's vibration with our intention.  Energy itself is without value or meaning until it is acted upon.  The strength and value of energetic vibrations are determined by human intention.  We have the God given ability to act upon the energetic supply and thus create the details of our lives.

Energy is not created or destroyed, it is sped up or slowed down.  It is used to build or it is released back into the energetic supply.  It is like a box of legos.  They can be used to build many different things over and over again.  The original creation is taken apart, and the blocks are reordered, according to the current builders intention. The individual components remain the same, but the order they are in and use for which they are created changes.

A seed is planted and when acted upon by the energy of the sun, it grows to become a tree.  The tree is concentrated, organized energy.  When the tree is burned that energy is released from the shape and form of the tree into the heat of the fire.  The energy returns to the energetic supply as the heat dissipates and the ash disintegrates and returns to molecular building blocks.

Energy is without value until acted upon.  Negative intentions will bring energy down to a lower level of vibration.  Positive intentions will increase the vibrational level.  Conquering the lower vibrations of fear, doubt, hatred and envy bring an individual more ability to influence the energetic supply and and bring their intention more in alignment with God and His highest intentions.

The energy surrounding our bodies is influenced by many external and internal forces.  By learning energy healing methods, an individual is better able to limit the negative intentions affecting themselves and others as well as enhance and increase the positive intentions.  With knowledge and practice come energetic mastery.  God has achieved perfect energetic mastery. With this mastery He created the world from the energetic supply.  Aligning our will, or intentions, to higher and higher energetic vibrations eventually brings us to the point of becoming one with God.  We are then able to live where He does, act as He does, and resonate at His level.

In our current state we do not see God because he is vibrating too fast, at too high of a level for our mortal, lower vibrating eyes to perceive.  We must be changed or He must slow down to a level that we can withstand.  This concept also applies to Angels, and all Heavenly messengers.  The are ever present, but our perception is limited.

We as flesh and spirit humans vibrate at a much higher level than those denied bodies and we operate on a higher filed of energy.  They require a certain amount of physical assistance to accomplish much evil.  This is only possible by lowering our vibrational levels to be more compatible with them.  We do this through fear, doubt, hate, envy, and selfishness.

In this life we aim to continually increase our energetic vibrations.  Step by step, level by level, until we are pure and qualified to exist in on the energetic plane with God. The essence of religious life is designed to keep us free of those actions, thoughts and feelings that reduce our vibrational levels and open us to negative influence and manipulation, as well as encourage the pursuit of increasing our vibrational level to more closely align with God and be qualified to return to His presence.

By Leaps and Bounds

In the movie, "What About Bob?" Bob is directed to take baby steps towards the change he wants in his life.  Most of the time that's how it is.  We take small steps in the right direction, and over time we make noticeable progress. At other times, we find ourselves in a position to take a leap of faith.  No baby step, a great big, giant leap - often off a cliff.  When the big moments of our life arrive, and we are called upon to make dramatic changes, we grow by leaps and bounds.  We take large strides and soar onto the next level.

I've always read a lot of books, fiction and otherwise.  Years ago I read a great book that helped Carl and I meet some pretty enthusiastic goals in our life.  It was during one of those leap of faith moments that we discovered "Living by the Power of Faith" by Gene R. Cook.  The message is powerful, and at the end of each chapter is a worksheet to help you implement the concepts you are learning.  We worked through the book together and changed the course of our life dramatically.

Somehow, we got a bit off track.  We became comfortable on our plateau and stopped setting new goals.  Aiming each day just to hold on to what we had, we rather quickly began to dwindle.  The momentum was effectively dead.  It took a few years, but reality began to catch up with our attitude, and we ended up pretty close to square one, except now we were older, and less resilient. Since then it has been a series of leaps into the unknown followed by baby steps into the dark.

A few years ago the book, "The Secret" came out. I read it, Carl read it, our friends and family read it.  It was a breath of fresh air, a spark of energy, a reminder, and a wake up call.  I knew from personal experience that the principles worked. At the core, it is the same message as "Living by the Power of Faith".  My quest to know more resumed.  I wanted to understand why I could implement and succeed for while, but was unable to sustain the momentum necessary for lasting success.  Why did worry, fear, and doubt always return?  I began searching for a way to clear the stumbling blocks from my path, so that I could fully embrace a life of faith and trust, rather than falling back into fear and doubt.

Since then I have read and studied the subject from many angles.  I have learned a lot and I am grateful to all the authors who wrote those books, sharing their wisdom and knowledge.  I made a lot of baby steps while reading all of those books. There is a difference between knowing how to do something, and actually doing it.  Sometimes it was as if there were a literal wall in my mind that I just could not get over.  I believed, I hoped, I wanted, I visualized, I focused, I set goals, I acted - so why was I stuck?

Eventually my studying lead me to take a 5 week tele-course on energy healing basics.  The announcement that I read for the class mentioned the Law of Attraction, and how to clear the blocks that were holding you back from really living it.  I saved that email for weeks in my inbox.  Something about it spoke to me, and drew me in.  I just couldn't delete it.  The day before the class was to start, I signed up.  Paying that fee felt like a pretty big leap of faith.  I knew instinctively that I was getting really close to what I was searching for.

The class was amazing, enlightening, and everything the ad had promised.  Included in the handouts for each class was a reading list.  Some of which I had already read, and many more that I had not.  These reading lists were both a confirmation that I was still on the same path, and a wealth of new ideas.  Since then I have continued to study and implement the concepts of energy healing into my life.  Many of the invisible boulders in my life have been rolled away, or even blown to pieces.

As my understanding has increased, so has my desire to help others with these methods. Everywhere I look there is needless suffering - colicky babies, depression, addiction, heart disease, cancer, fear, anger, frustration, and pain.  The healing methods of energy medicine address all of these and more.  How can I keep all of this goodness to myself?  I want to share the light I have found with everyone.

Next month I am taking my next giant leap into the void.  I will be attending intensive training classes to become a certified practitioner of Calyco Healing.  I am so excited to learn even more, especially how to help others with these methods.  I have recently started this blog dedicated to the subject of energy healing.  It will become a resource for others, who are searching to understand this subject. Eventually I will post reviews of the best, and worst, books on the subject, as well as links to other resources.  There is no reason for everyone to dig through the weeds to find the flowers.

The lights are on, the darkness has fled.  It's onward, and upward by leaps and bounds.

Article by M.Catherine Thomas

"And so the mind must be filled with the things of God in order to withstand the crowding tactics of the Adversary, not to mention the general spiritual entropy of earth life. The mind is the frontier and the tool, and training the mind in spiritual awareness and practice is the key to opening the spiritual door. "

A Simple Definition

Some of life's experiences make such an impact on us, that we carry the energy of them with us long after the actual experience is over.  When those experiences are negative, they can impact our lives in unproductive ways.  Letting the negative energy of our past remain with us can cause problems in our present.  It may manifest as illness, emotional problems, or relationship difficulties.  Sometimes we have a goal or a dream and we feel stuck for no logical reason.

Our bodies contain multiple energy fields that effect our well being in dramatic ways. Energy healing uses various methods to detect and release the destructive energetic debris that can become trapped. When these energetic blocks are released, our bodies are better able to heal, and good health can return.

Letting go of negative, false beliefs about ourselves and the world we live in can free us to live a more peaceful and joyful life.  Uncovering  hidden energetic blocks will unleash your potential to accomplish  goals and fulfill your life's mission.

In the Beginning

Pinpointing where and when my quest for knowledge of  energy healing began is difficult. In the early years of my search, I wasn't aware of the name, energy healing, or the vast field of study it entails.  Before the days of the internet, the search was much more difficult.  Today a quick Google search provides an overwhelming amount of information. This blog provides a sensible path through the forest, helping to illuminate the individual trees.

Take a look at the recommended reading in the box to the right.  I have personally read and rated all of these books.  Some are specifically focused on Energy Healing, and others get there in a more round about way.  Some of my favorites, never mention the actual term "Energy Healing" but teach valuable concepts that are no doubt healing energetically.

There are many modalities, and paths that lead to a similar end. The links I have posted are to individuals that resonate with me.  I am sure there are others, and would welcome any recommendations.
